Step 2:
Make an account: Sign-up (North America)

Step 3: Summoner Name
As soon as you complete your registration and log in for the very first time you'll be introduced to another life-altering decision. You'll be asked to come up with a Summoner Name. A Summoner Name is your public face to all things League of Legends. It will be your name in-game and on the official forums so come up with something good! Also for an extra layer of security I recommend that you choose something that is different than your user name. (The one you use to log in with)

Now we're to the last and final step to creating your account. This one is probably the single most important choice you've ever made in your life so think long and hard about which of these Summoner Icons truly represents who you are and what you stand for, or what you hope to become.

*note: you can change your summoner icon whenever you want from the main screen.
Step 5: The Secret Step (because I forgot to take a screen cap of it)
The actual final step is choosing one of four skill categories. You get to choose between Beginner, which will cause the games match-making system to pair you with other Beginners, and 3 other groups with increasing skill levels. I strongly recommend Beginner if you have not played this game before. It will give you some comfort knowing that there are people as inexperienced as you. And possibly far worse at the game.

If for whatever reason you cannot play the tutorial immediately do not fret. It can be accessed at any time by pressing the play button from the main screen.
Bonus tip: The tutorial is a great place to test your connection, as well as adjust video settings or other options because you can leave at any time without any penalty.
